'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Ethan Galbraith continues contest with City.

Ethan Galbraith grins broadly as he reminisces about the nail-biting closing stages of his team's remarkable turnaround triumph against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. That match wrapped up with Galbraith picking up a supporter's spectacles amid the pitch-side pile-on.

With the clock ticking into the 97th minute, Galbraith struck the post with a powerful effort from outside the box, and the defender quickly slammed home the loose ball before racing off toward the crowd to mark the goal, with the crowd congregating around the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

The victory capped an incredible turnaround given the Welsh side had trailed 2-0 during the final 45 minutes. Amid the celebrations, there was some minor mishaps. The midfielder recalled, "There was a spectator shouting out and Josh Key and I were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we saw the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're humans, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Manchester City Challenge

That win secured a next round game at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, a team Galbraith ran close at the same stage of the FA Cup with the London side in February. He had arguably the best view when his former team took the lead in remarkable manner, with a teammate's first-time shot from about way out going in via the bar and the City goalkeeper. Many argued that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've credited him for taking the effort on from that range," stated Galbraith, who played in the middle before switching to right flank after they changed formation. That meant getting to grips with the England international, with whom he traded tops, and the attacker was among the opposition who praised the way the underdogs attacked the game.

City's Quality

"Physically they are very good but even the fundamentals and basic skills, they can just perform consistently," Galbraith says. "It appears that they complete every delivery and they know how to control and neutralize a game. You can feel you're all right and then suddenly they will just thread a ball past your midfield without you even seeing. You have to be switched on at all times of the game. It requires a tough attitude and focus just to remain competitive."

Swansea Move

Swansea sought to acquire Galbraith in January and secured his signature to sign him in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He made a name as a crowd pleaser across a couple of years at Orient and has rapidly achieved similar status in Wales. At the London club he linked up again with Richie Wellens, who four years ago gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in first-team action on loan at Doncaster from United. Then came a temporary move at lower division Salford, before he moved on from Manchester United.

Development Path

"I was perhaps a somewhat inexperienced going into professional soccer. I think numerous professionals would say development squad matches is completely distinct. Sometimes it appears play is circulated without much intensity. You see few hard challenges. Once you start playing first-team football you have to learn quickly."

Country Call-ups

He has shown that development for club and country, performing well for Northern Ireland, who could still reach the international competition next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has been selected in the last several matches, including both legs fixtures against Germany. His former international manager, Galbraith's ex- international manager, paid him the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he handles the football and his knack for a killer pass.

Early Days

This marks quite the ride for the kid from the Queens Park estate in his hometown, just outside Belfast, who was raised observing his dad, the elder Galbraith, also a engine room operator, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Manchester United Experience

The player's sole appearance for United came in Central Asia in 2019, a Europa League trip to the Kazakh capital, where they competed on an plastic turf and the venue ceiling was closed owing to conditions of -15C. "It was a lengthy journey and it was chilly," he recalls, grinning. "The preceding week, the academy prospects worked out jointly, so that helped us acclimatise. Just to accompany the senior squad and make an appearance at the end was unbelievable."

Moving On

How hard was it to depart Manchester United, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged 16? "The decision proved fairly simple, because I reached the point where I realized I wasn't going to make it at the senior squad. I'm very appreciative for the years at the club but it reached a stage where I believed I required a fresh start, drop down the leagues and play professional soccer. Now I'm slowly working my way back up."

New Environment

It is mid-afternoon at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has somewhere to be at late afternoon: a learner's exam, another step towards getting on the road. Until recently to his new neighborhood, the mid-twenties player was a regular in Swansea's so-called team minibus, a minibus driven by team personnel, Pete and Howard, which shuttles players to and from practice and games.

"I travel with the Portuguese player, the Brazilian, Malick Yalcouyé – a former passenger used to be in it but has started driving. It's nice to interact with the teammates but I'm aiming to be the following person to stop using the bus and behind the wheel. The Portuguese player is known for his humor; he's always up to all sorts."

Supporter Connections

When he represented Orient, Galbraith would blend in with followers on the Tube after commuting at Brentwood. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
